There are few who come close to her showmanship, gutsy lyricism and stylistic individualism in modern music. She was donning outrageous costumes way before Gaga (disco kimono, anyone?), jumping in crowds long before Alice Glass and eating microphones well ahead of… Anyone else who eats microphones. And, aside from her incredible Coachella performance, the 10 th anniversary of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the release of Mosquito, their first album since 2009's It's Blitz, she occupies a unique place in the far-shorter-than-it-should-be list of great rock 'n' roll frontwomen. We're not sure if you've noticed, but there's been an awful lot of Karen O love on the site this week.
